Ambulances Arrive At Sydney Airport To Treat Qantas Passengers Hit By Gastric Illness On Flight

Twenty-two passengers on a Qantas-747 receive treatment by medics at Sydney Airport after they became ill on board a flight from Santiago.

SYDNEYAUSTRALIA (AUGUST 1, 2013)(SEVEN NETWORK) -  Medical authorities treated 22 passengers for gastric illness after they became ill on a Qantas flight from Chile to AustraliaQantas said on Thursday (August 1).

Several ambulances and medical staff met the plane shortly after it touched down in Sydney, and those affected were given medical treatment on board the plane.

Qantas said it believed the illness was "contracted before boarding the aircraft and symptoms became evident during the flight".

The airline said the flight's pilots and crew were not affected by the illness, and other passengers were processed through customs.

However, all passengers have been advised to keep watch on their health, and to seek medical advice if they become ill over the next two days.
